new year, new name, same me

hiya friends! I am so excited to start/continue(?) this journey with y’all here at Genuinely Gopi. For awhile now, I had been contemplating a name change, website refresh, taking a break – at one point, I even considered shutting my Instagram down altogether. But boy, am I glad that I didn’t do that! I’m not going to try and sugarcoat the fact that social media can be a soul-sucking vortex at times – BUT, for some of us, most of the time it’s a creative outlet and a really fun way to meet new people. For me, social media became a way to not only expand my network, but also broaden my way of thinking and living.

I’d love to start this new journey off with us getting to know each other better! I’ll start us off with some things to know about me, and I’d love to hear back from y’all too!

5 things you should know about me:

1) I am pretty Type A/OCD – listen, we all are who we are, and that’s just who I am! I am fairly particular about where everything goes and probably won’t be able to sleep at night if it’s not how I’d like for it to be – just ask my husband, Ronak. 😉

2) With that said, I’m really working on trying to go with the flow and not let things get me down too much. I’ve always cared for and loved the important people in my life really deeply, and not that I’m going to full stop that or anything – but it was starting to get to a point where I felt like I was putting in way more effort, and getting a little burnt out. So when I turned 30 in 2020, I knew something had to change. And…just believe me when I tell you it was a HUGE turning point for me.

3) I have yet to travel to any European countries. I KNOW – I’m 30 and it hasn’t happened yet. Ronak and I were actually supposed to travel to Italy last summer for our honeymoon, but…#thanksCOVID. One day! And hopefully soon. 🙂

4) I was born, raised, and fully educated in Texas, and I had never lived outside of that great state until I was 27. I moved to Philly to be closer to my then-boyfriend-now-husband, Ronak, as we’d been long distance for a few years at that point. So glad I made that move! 😉

5) I really enjoy cooking and hosting any sort of party. I also really enjoy home styling and DIYing things. I hope to share some of my projects with y’all, but please let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see!

6) (one for good measure) – Ronak and I have the cutest pupperoo! We got Austin approximately 3 weeks after our wedding in 2019, and are SO thankful we did. He’s a mini-goldendoodle, and the cutest one on earth. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a pain in the butt at times – but s’cute while being one. He was named after the city that Ronak and I met in all those years ago. 🙂
