Baby registries may quite possibly be one of the most stressful things expecting parents have to put together before baby comes. How are you expected to sift through ALL the baby products, do research on the various options for said products, and somehow just hope that it’s exactly what your baby will like and need. It can be extremely overwhelming! I think our almost 9 month old baby boy would agree with the list below of great must-have products for you, and I even included a few that I would recommend not adding to your registry!

Higher Ticket Items You’ll Probably Need But May Not Add To Your Registry
- Crib – we LOVE our Namesake one!
- Dresser – we LOVE our Namesake one, as well!
- Glider chair – we LOVE our Storkcraft one! (also linked HERE and HERE)
- Infant Car Seat & Stroller – nuna Pipa URBN + TRIV Next Infant Travel System
- Bassinet – not 100% necessary if you’re setting the crib up in your room for those first few months but we loved our 4moms mamaRoo Sleep Bassinet
- Fisher-Price Sweet Snugapuppy Swing – my sister gave us theirs but we used this thing a LOT in the first few months
Don’t forget to sign up for an Amazon Baby Registry, Target Baby Registry, Walmart Baby Registry, and any other store baby registries you find that provides FREE WELCOME BOXES!! These welcome boxes usually include a variety of types of diapers, wipes, pacifiers, and sometimes even clothes that you can try out! A great way to try out a few different brands before committing to one you like.
Items That You Can Probably Skip
- Baby Brezza One Step Baby Bottle Sterilizer Dryer Advanced – I honestly think we could’ve skipped on this. There are work arounds on steaming bottles and other things those first few months when you’re trying to keep everything sanitized. We used it pretty religiously for the first few months, but it’s now back in its box. 🙂 It’s one of those ‘nice-to-have’ things, but not fully necessary, IMO.
- Diapers – I recommend only putting 1-2 of early sizes on your registry (i.e. NB, size 1, size 2) but I think I’d prefer cash or gift cards to purchase these when needed because your baby may outgrow certain sizes more quickly, and that’s so hard to tell early on.
- Newborn socks & mittens – Skip this. Your baby is *likely* going to live in long sleeve sleepers those first few months, regardless of the month they’re born in (our son was born in May, and we still had him in full length sleepers for pretty much the first 6 months). Since sleepers are usually always footies, the socks are pointless! We also never used the mittens because he was usually always swaddled those first few months.
- Newborn short-sleeved onesies/shorts/etc. – Reason above holds true here as well. I’d actually say this about all “cute” clothes (non-full body sleepers) in sizes NB-6 months.
- Magnetic Me onesies – I don’t know why I just could not get into these. Yes, the magnets are great (vs. buttons – which is also a huge NO), but I felt like they just didn’t stay closed that well, and our son wasn’t even moving around a ton. Zippers (especially 2 way zippers) are 10000% the way to go!
- Lalo High Chair – Aesthetic? Yes. Functional? Not so much. Just trust me, and SKIP!
- Too many clothes – I’d hold off! You’re likely going to get a LOT as gifts again once baby is born, so it’s better to just skip on these on your registry. Plus, it’s better to figure out your style as baby gets older and use gift cards/cash from your registry to buy things on your own.
hope this helps y’all narrow some things down on your registries! good luck and let me know if you have any questions!
xo,
gopi
