One of the cities that people ask me most about for recommendations on is Austin, TX! Naturally…I mean, I did go to undergrad there, and it’s literally one of my favorite cities (if not my only favorite city) in the states! I think it’s because I feel like it has something for everyone – the going out scene, the chill vibes scene, AMAZING food, water activities, hikes (well…my kind of hikes lol) – all of it!
Alongside Vegas, Nashville, and Scottsdale, I think ATX has also become a hottt spot for bachelor/bachelorette parties over the last few years! So I wanted to go ahead and shared a bachelorette itinerary that we actually did for one of my besties in 2019. We had so much fun!! Keep in mind this is more of a bachelorette itinerary (that can also maybe be tweaked for a bachelor party), but let me know in the comments below if you’re interested in a general ATX list of recommendations for food and things to do! I would be more than happy to put that together as well 🙂
Where we stayed:
We stayed at an Airbnb near South Congress Ave, which is essentially a long street that crosses over the Colorado River and connects over to downtown ATX. It’s a great area to stay in because it gave easy access to restaurants in downtown, bars/nightlife, as well as Lake Austin and Lake Travis, where most boats dock from!
Also want to note that Austin is a super walkable-friendly city! We didn’t rent a car, and just Ubered when and where we needed to. It was significantly easier with a group of gals in one large Uber XL, vs having to deal with the hassle of finding parking everywhere we went. We also easily walked across the bridge a few days to brunch, etc. and we were able to enjoy the views along the way. Granted, it was in the dead of June’s hot TX weather, so def keep that in mind (Austin can get pretty hot!), but other than that, we were just fine without renting a car!
I know pre-COVID there were TONS of great Airbnb options in and around the downtown area, so I’m hoping it’s still the same, or at least similar. Tons of great hotels and cute boutique hotels in downtown as well!
Bachelorette Weekend Itinerary:
Some girls arrived Thursday night, but most of us arrived Friday! So our group itinerary was planned Friday – Sunday, which I’ve included below:
Friday:
- Arrive into ATX (Austin-Bergstrom International airport is the best and only option I believe haha)
- Ubered over to Airbnb
- We arrive and split the girls up into liquor/food runs, and setting up the decor
- Spent the afternoon relaxing, drinking, and catching up with one another until all the girls arrived (I actually arrived later that night thanks to stupid flight delays)
- Pre-gamed with some fun drinking games while getting ready for dinner
- ‘Tacos & Tequila at Trudy’s‘ – unfortunately I don’t think they take dinner reservations, but I thinkkk you can call right ahead and get your name on the list
- The Trudy’s Texas Star location (right off campus) used to be the besttt, but I heard they closed last year and I’m still pretty bummed about it… I think the next closest and best is the Trudy’s South Star location.
- Trudy’s is by-far one of my most favorite restaurants ever – highly recommend the flaquities and the Mexican Martini’s! Google “Trudy’s Trifecta” for some background 🙂
- ‘Scavenger on Sixth Street’ – after dinner, we all headed over to Sixth Street and gave the bride-to-be a list of things she had to do! This was a fun way to keep the night going without ending early with just being all shots and drinks! I’ve included the scavenger hunt we put together below but feel free to customize it for your bride-to-be!
Saturday:
- Brunched at Revue – located inside the beautiful Fairmount Austin hotel, this bottomless brunch was perfect! They even set up a little customized table for us and our bride-to-be and it was super cute! Food, drinks, and service were great.
- Headed back to Airbnb to change and get our stuff for the boat
- Ubered to Lake Travis, where our boat driver was going to be picking us up from
- Hung out on the lake for hours, played drinking games, docked in the boat cove and met other bachelor/bachelorette parties, and tanned like crazy 😉
- Headed back to the Airbnb to shower and relax after a long day in the sun
- Our original plan was to make it to our dinner reservation and then head to Rainey Street but I think half of us passed out when we got back waiting for showers to open up, and just from the exhaustion of being out in the sun and day-drinking all day haha so we ended up nixing that plan and ordered pizza from Home Slice Pizza – one of my favorite pizza places ever! Highly recommend the eggplant pie (if you’re a fan of eggplant parm), and the pear gorgonzola salad – SO good!
- p.s. Rainey Street is GREAT for a chill night out – it’s basically a row of houses and trailers that people have turned into bars or small restaurant-bars, and there’s often live music or just chill house-music vibes and it’s so fun to hang out. Definitely worth checking out while you’re there!
- So we all enjoyed some dang good pizza in our PJs, made drinks, and had a panty party for our bride-to-be! We had also asked the groom-to-be some questions before the bachelorette party that we had our bride-to-be answer as well! Every question she got RIGHT she had to drink for 😉

Sunday:
- Champagne Showers at The W Hotel – Trace at The W Austin hotel was great for brunch! They had great drinks, food, and service and even customized our menus for our group! Then they also gave us access to their rooftop pool where we had a great time!
- Most of the girls were leaving that afternoon so we headed back after hanging at the pool for a bit to allow time for everyone to pack and clean up.
- Then, the rest of us that remained went to grab our last few drinks together at P6 at The LINE Austin hotel, right on Congress bridge – SUPER cute and great views!! Drinks were delish also 🙂
Eat, Drink & Be Merry Recommendations:
Eat: Trudy’s
Drink: Sixth Street + Rainey Street
Be Merry: Boat on Lake Travis
